Advancement Database and Prospect Research Manager

The Advancement Database Manager’s overall objective and responsibility is to provide leadership for the departmental data management systems and to assist staff to utilize Raiser’s Edge and other department systems in support of university goals and priorities. This position is responsible for applying independent judgement to plan, organize, and perform a wide variety of administrative and technical duties in support of the projects and goals within Advancement. This position is responsible for the integrity of the alumni database through the management and administration of multiple databases within Advancement and for continually finding ways to improve, update, and support our data collection processes and needs, as well as provide analysis and research. This position plays an active role in the university’s fundraising efforts and is also the lead on all internal training on Advancement data systems such as Raiser’s Edge, Financial Edge, and Auction Systems. This position manages the prospect research systems and will assist in the operation of the call center, and its staffing support. This position also works closely with the Advancement Executive Director and staff to identify the most appropriate assignment for major gift prospects and to develop cultivation strategies, while utilizing prospect management skills to develop successful cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies.

Director of Prospect Research & Development
The Director of Prospect Research & Development serves as an essential member of the Advancement team to establish overall goals and strategies for increasing private support to and engagement with Willamette University. Reporting to the Executive Director of Advancement Strategy and Operations (ASO), the Director is responsible for the planning and implementation of a comprehensive program of prospect research, prospect management, prospect data management, and analysis. The prospect research program focuses on the qualification and identification of prospects at the major gift level, with an emphasis on principal prospects.
The prospect management program focuses on the development of policies and procedures for prospect tracking and management that support a fully integrated system of fundraising. The prospect data management and analysis program focuses on the compilation, analysis, and presentation of data about the prospect pool and fundraising at Willamette to support and inform strategy planning at the individual, department, and division level. The Director focuses the department’s activity on these initiatives to maximize donor philanthropic support.
